F.A.Q.
Frequently asked Questions
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE TRI-COUNTY TENNIS TOURNAMENT
Q. When does tournament registration open?
A. 2025 registration is already open! Typically, registration opens a month or so before the start of the tournament. Follow this website or the Tri-County Tennis Facebook page for more details.
Q. Who is eligible to enter the Tri-County Tennis Tournament?
A. Players must be able to establish a strong tie to the Peoria/Tazewell/Woodford County, Illinois area. Examples of such ties are that the player lives/lived in the area, works or has worked in the area, or is/was enrolled in school in the area.
Q. What divisions does the tournament offer?
A. In the adult events, we typically offer men’s and women’s open brackets, a recreational bracket for more casual players (generally speaking, players that did not compete in high school and/or college), and age divisions starting at 35 years old, with successive brackets at 10-year stages (e.g. 45 and older, 55 and older, etc.).
In the juniors events, divisions typically are 12-and-under, 14-and-under, 16-and-under, and 18-and-under for both boys and girls, both singles and doubles.
Note: Depending upon the number of entries, the tournament directors reserve the right to combine age brackets if, in their opinion, there are not enough players entered in any particular age bracket(s).
Q. What if I enter and lose in the first round? Is this a once-and-done tournament?
A. Beginning with 2023’s tournament, consolation rounds were played, so that each player or doubles team was assured of at least two matches.
Q. What if it rains on tournament weekend?
A. All attempts will be made to play outdoors, but if the weather really doesn’t cooperate, advance arrangements are made with a local indoor tennis facility to move the matches there.
Q. What is Tennis Fest?
A. This year we’re trying something new – Tennis Fest! Just before the women’s and men’s singles finals on July 27th, we’ll have a couple hours of tennis fun:
Sit with your friends under the big tent while you enjoy selections from food trucks by Long Road Home (savory entrées) and Scrolls Ice Cream and live music by the Flying d’Rito Brothers. Then join the on-court activities, including a radar gun to measure your serve speed, the opportunity to demo a wide range of new rackets, and even a Red Ball demonstration by the USTA. Then, once these activities wind down, we start the men’s and women’s open finals. Bring your lawn chair and take in the best tennis around!
A $15 per-person fest charge is included in your registration fee, but every participant gets those $15 back as vouchers to use at the Tennis Fest food trucks! You can purchase food that day, as well. Bring the family and friends!
Q. Do you allow refunds?
A. Please note that refund requests are generally disfavored and will only be considered in exceptional circumstances, at the sole discretion of the tournament directors. All refund requests must be submitted before draws are posted, with a clear explanation and any relevant documentation. No refunds will be issued after draws are posted. If approved, refunds may be issued in full, partially, or as credit toward a future event. Not all reasons will be accepted as exceptional circumstances – for example, scheduling conflicts or dissatisfaction with draw placement. Tri-County Tennis reserves the right to amend this policy in the event of tournament cancellation, postponement, or other unforeseen issues.
